Lewis & Clark Orthopedic and Sports Therapy is annually involved with the Kansas City Royals “Pass It On” Baseball Clinic in Yankton, SD. Staff physical therapists assist young athletes with proper stretching and conditioning prior to the baseball clinic, and give recommendations throughout the sessions. Physical therapists are present during the entire event to monitor any injuries and/or medical conditions that need attention. Baseballs are given to the athletes at the conclusion of the clinic from Lewis & Clark Orthopedic and Sports Therapy and are able to be autographed by former Kansas City Royals players.
The first “Pass It On” clinic came to Riverside Field in Yankton in 2008. Approximately 150-200 young athletes between the ages of 8-18 attend annually. Various organizations, including Lewis & Clark Orthopedic and Sports Therapy, sponsor the event, which alleviates the cost for the young athletes. Leaders of the clinic include former Kansas City Royals players that instruct the athletes on various baseball skills, including hitting, pitching, fielding, and base running. In addition, Fred White, a former Royals TV broadcaster, also is involved with the clinic.
